Mystery Guest

Yesterday we had a mystery guest come to our class.  We were so excited to find out who it was going to be!  It was Jaiden's dad, Jason.  He shared with us about how it played cricket and his team won a tournament.  He also showed us the gears he has to wear when he plays soccer.  Jordan got to put it on.  A few children also got to hit a cricket ball with the bat Jason used when he played in the tournament.

Jordan Lawton

I was born in 2003 and my birthday is on April 11th. I was born in Palmerston North and I went to live with my Dad in Fielding every now and then. Before I started school I had chicken pox and I had them all over my body.
When I was three I went to Australia and I went on this really COOL roller coaster. I felt horrified because it went so fast and every time I got off it I was crying. Even though I was sad I always wanted to go back on it because I wanted to go with my dad.
When I was little I cut my head open a little bit. When my brother was giving me a piggy back I fell off. It was painful and Mum had to rush me to the Doctors and they glued my head back together.
Now I am at Russell Street School and I am 8. I like playing with my friends at school.

Yay! We won flags!

Today we had a great game of flags with Room 3.  The final score was 3 - 1 to us.  We were so excited to win.  We think great defense is what helped us win.

Great game Room 3.  We think you played really well too!

Catch me if you can

On Tuesday mornings we have catch me if you can with Sha.  We do it in the hall or on the courts.  We are learning to do a proper chest pass.  You have to hold you hands on the ball and kind of make a W with your hands.  Put it up to your chest and push your arms forward and step forward with your back heel up.  When you catch the ball you catch it with your arms out and bring it back into your chest.

Hands On Homework

This weeks Hands-on Homework is to find out about something you don't know.

Last week Maia S took a book home called The Hohoi. It's all about birds. Maia said to me, "Mum and Dad learned something they didn't know from the book. They didn't know that the older a bird is the less water proof its wings are." I asked Maia, "What makes a birds wings waterproof? Maybe you could find that out at home with your mum and dad." Maia had a great idea and thought this could be this weeks Hands-on Homework.

You don't have to find out what makes a birds wings waterproof. You can find out about anything that you want to know that you don't already know!

I wonder what you'll find out?

Family Tree

Well done to those people who completed their hands-on homework and made a family tree. They all look amazing.

February's Board Report

Flags
This year we have been learning to play flags. In flags there is a big line of cones that is where you start. There is two squares on each side with a ball in the middle of them then there are three people standing around it. You have to try and get the ball from their side back to your side. There are attackers and defenders. Flags is all about having fun!!!!

Triathlon
Today we had a Triathlon. The year three girls went first and the year six boys went last. It was a long way!!! At the start we had to run on the grass and then out the Tyndle street ally way then down Rongapie street and back in russell st and then we went in the pool and then we jumped on our bikes and round the field and then we sprinted to the finish line!!!!!

Puppet show
Today we had a puppet show called Rayz Roadshow. Ray is trying to teach as that rules are cool. At the puppet show Raye and his puppets were funny. Jerry ( the puppet ) he was cheeky like monkeys. puppet shows are cool and so are rules!!!!
