365 Cereal

During this term Rooms 3, 6 and 5 have been working together to produce their very own breakfast cereal. R6 are making the product, R3 are packaging it and R5 are marketing it.

 The ingredients we have used for the cereal are granola, puffed rice, mango, yoghurt covered raisins and sweetened with stevia and honey.

 If you would like to purchase our cereal we will be selling it in Week 9 at 8.30 outside the school office. The price is $6.

We appreciate your support and all profits raised are going towards the school art space. Thanks, Rooms 3, 6 and 5.

Hands-On Homework

This weeks hands-on homework is a drawing competition.  I know how much many of you love drawing so I thought this will be a fun activity.

As you all know, we have decided our packaging for our cereal needs to have a cartoon character on it to make it attractive for children.  So, you are to create and draw your own cartoon character.  It can be any kind of character, it is up to your imagination!

Bring your drawing to school on Friday to share with everyone.

Flags

What an amazing game of flags we had today!  Our amazing kotahitanga meant that we won 5-1.  Well done to Sam and Emma too, who were our players of the day for fantastic defense!

Matariki Celebrations

Today we celebrated Matariki with our buddy class and as a school.

Room 14 did an amazing job of cooking soup for the whole school, which we enjoyed eating with our buddies.  It was delicious!

Finally, we had a ceremony for the pou that some students at our school made and that are now in the ground at the front of our school.




What an amazing day we have had and what a great way to show kotahitanga!

Today we looked at some other company logos.  We noticed how simple they were.  Check out these logos.  Can you guess these logos and write your answer in the comments?

Cereal Logo

For our cereal packaging we are designing the logo for our product.  Our product is called 365.  Get it? The numbers of our classrooms and the number of days in a year.  Thanks for the great idea Joy!
We know that a logo needs to be clear to read and memorable.  Check out some of the ideas we have come up with so far.

Healthy Eating

Our First Production Practise

On Wednesday we had our first Production practice.  It was with Dean.  Our song we were dancing to was Footloose.  It is really tricky because it is fast music.  Everyone was puffing hard out.  The dance is basically about our feet.  It was one of the most exhausting things I have ever done.  By Jaiden



Yesterday we went to dancing with Dean we were learning how to dance to foot-loose.

First he taught us an easier version of dancing to foot-loose. It was amazingly hard even for the easy version!  

The boys did bits and the girls did bits.  You had to remember everything. I could hardly keep anything in my head. Man there was so many actions. So it must be hard for music videos to dance well!

Then Dean said, “Ok now for the hard version.” I thought in my head, “oh oh!!!”

Dean was going so fast that I thought, “Man he’s good!”  The actions were different and much much harder! The dancing was so fast that I  felt like exploding!
It was time for lunch I felt so exhausted that I couldn’t play!!! By Ben




On Wednesday we practised for our production with Dean  McKerris. He is a dance teacher. We had to dance to footlose. I knew that footlose would be hard to dance to because it is a fast song. we started the first bit.  That was easy but the corus was fast. No it wasn’t fast, it was really fast. At the end I was hot “I like dancing to footlose,” I said to myself. By Thomas

For the production we are doing a dance called Footloose. We have already learnt most of it. Next week we might be learning the rest of it.  The dance was fast and hard.  By Leo

Gorge Walk


On Saturday I went for a walk. It was the Gorge Walk.  On the way up we saw some birds on a sign. Then when we came down we saw another bird on a sign, it was a Kereru.  I shouted to Dad, "Look there is a Kereru." Dad said, "Lets get a photo of it with you."  Here is the photo.

Hands-On Homework

This week's hands-on homework task is to interview someone.  We want to find out what kind of cereal people like and what attracts them (with the packaging) at the supermarket when they are buying it.

You will need to:

  • Think about who you are going to interview.
  • Think about what you are going to ask them.
  • Organise a time to interview them
  • Have the questions prepared before the interview.
  • Think about how you are going to record the interview (record the sound, video, etc)
  • Bring your answers to school because this will help us with designing the packaging.

So get interviewing, and don't forget to send me photos, videos, etc of your interview.
